Arizona Master Teachers of Mathematics (AZ-MTM) is a Noyce grant funded by the National Science Foundation. We are working with a cohort of 14 teachers of grades 3-6 in the Tucson area over a period of four years to develop greater leadership and expertise in elementary mathematics education. The teachers participate in professional development during the school year and summer focusing on mathematics knowledge for teaching, pedagogy, research in mathematics education, and leadership training.
We work with teachers from Tucson, Marana, Flowing Wells, and Sunnyside school districts. We are also partnered with the AZ K12 Center and the Pima Regional Support Center, who provide some of the professional development opportunities for our teachers.
